Migrating Outlook Mails to Apple Mail

Filed under: Mac — Kunal Jain @ 10:12

Following are the steps that i have done(With the help from several blogs and Websites)

1. Import all the mails from Microsoft Outlook to the Outlook Express.

2. Download and Install the Thunderbird.

3. Import all the mails from Outlook Express to Thunderbird.

4. After Import check the settings under Thunderbird to see where is stores the Email

(Generally C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\ns3ytrch.default\Mail\Local Folders

5. Thunderbird organize each folder as separate directory. Copy all or selected folders you want to  copy to you Mac system.

6. Then in Apple Mail select File Menu -> Import Mailboxes -> Select Thunderbird and select the folder you want to import(That you have just copied on your system)

7. Apple Mail will import all the folders and put them under Import Folder.

  1. hi,

PLEASE HELP: I have bought a new MacBook and I am currently trying to import all of my emails from my old Vista PC to Mail from Apple. I have already imported all emails to Thunderbird on my Mac but the last step (to import from Thunderbird to Mail) is really a challenge. Actually, from what I have read on several sites it shuld be very easy. But, when I do the import from Thunderbird to Mail most of my emails are missing in Mail.

Can someone give me some support on this? I have been trying for the whole weekend and I am pretty ****** by now.

    Thanks!

  2. Follow the above instructions, because even i import all my mails from outlook to Apple mail.
You can do one thing take the backup of all the mails from the Microsoft outlook in vista and import it in Microsoft oulook with XP as operating system and then again import it into outlook express and then follow the above instructions.

I hope this will help you.
